Timber Frame Repairs

I was first called in to inspect suspected beetle attack.  I confirmed that there was indeed active Death Watch Beetle and it seemed to be around the jetty area.

The clients (who had not long purchased the property) advised that the previous owners had undertaken a lot of work and cement rendered the building in the 1970s.  Therefore, we knew that it had been sound in the 1970s.  The questions was, how much damage had the presence of cement render caused over c. 40 years.  We soon found out.

Careful timber frame repair had to be undertaken to the jetty, which had been largely destroyed by beetle attack.  Following the frame repairs, the building was re-rendered using lime render.
